Firewood is available for purchase, or campers can collect deadwood nearby. The facilities include restrooms and sinks to wash dishes. So be sure to arrive early to set up camp. This is a dry campground (no hookups) although there is ample # of water spigots near all restrooms.And because Shenandoah National Park is such a popular day and vacation destination, there can be a lot of traffic at certain times of the year. Overall still a good experience using both facilities.Īll roadways and sites are paved with mostly level sites though some are not and you’ll need blocks. The walls and floors were full on tiled, had a bench and ample # of hooks for towel and clothes, but no rubber mats to keep feet dry when toweling off. Each shower room was cheery and bright with modern fixtures. It's best to take showers early am and bring extra quarters in case you can’t finish in allotted time. Restrooms were cleaned twice a day but showers once daily and they ran out of hot water every night due to full campground. ![]() The only one in camp near the entrance in vicinity of the check-in ranger station. It had flush toilets, sinks with luke warm water, and electrical outlets. We had reservations in Big Meadow Campground and our site B107 was very close to the restroom. We rely on condition of campground's facilities near our site, so our critique is focused in that area. We like to eat outdoors using the picnic table and set up our dining canopy for sun and weather protection. We camped in a little rig, Tear Drop style RV, only 15' long w/o toilet or shower. Most recent stay was June 23-June 26, 2017. Take Skyline Drive North approximately 15 miles and turn left into the Big Meadows area. Take exit to US Highway 15 North, then turn onto US Highway 33 west and follow 28 miles to the Shenandoah National Park and Skyline Drive, Swift Run Gap Entrance. From Richmond, Virginia area, travel west on Interstate 64 to exit 136 for Zion Crossroads, Virginia. Follow the signs to Big Meadows Campground. Take Skyline Drive south approximately 19 miles and turn right into the Big Meadows area. Take US Highway 29 south to Warrenton, Virginia, then merge onto US Highway 211 west to Shenandoah National Park and Skyline Drive Thornton Gap Entrance.
